Welcome October! Not only are we welcoming October we are going to be welcoming our baby girl into our lives TOMORROW!! I can't believe the time has finally come that we will get to meet our first baby girl. After living in this house with three boys I am beyond ready for some girl power in this house!
Today I decided to finish up one last project in preparation for tomorrow. Most people are packing bags, cleaning house, fixing meals, etc. Well, I decided to paint a vintage baby doll crib that my great aunt gave me. I thought this would not only be the perfect little memorable piece for our baby girl to play with, but a fun newborn photo prop.
We didn't do much to this piece. I wanted to keep its vintage feel. My hubby secured all of its pieces and simply cut a piece of plywood for its base. I added a couple coats of pink paint and used Martha Stewarts screen printing stencils to add some glittery flowers. Easy enough, huh?
As for the rest of her nursery. Do you realize I never showed you an 'After' ?!
How did that happen.
This room started as quite a disaster just as the rest of the house has. I did a quick little freebie make-over for my youngest son. Then after finding out we were expecting a girl I put both of my boys in the large room and decided to give this small room to the little girl.

It all started with these funky floral curtains I found on Ebay. I purchased them right away. After picking out some coordinating fabrics I got started on Alex's nursery.
We turned a small dresser into a very usable custom hutch and turned a coffee table into a window seat. Then we got to work on painting the walls.
Early on I decided I didn't want an all pink nursery. You know me by now and know that I don't do anything that is expected. It keeps life more interesting that way.
After a little help from my Facebook friends I decided on a dark blue.
To glam it up and make it a fun girly space to be in I painted a fun nature mural.
Then we did a special treatment for the other walls.
I will have more details on these later |
Okay, enough gibber gabbering and onto the reveal!! I will get together some more posts on make-overs that I did for this space. Until then, enjoy my make-over and wish me luck on our big day tomorrow!!
How beautiful and done with so much love. Can hardly wait to see the pictures of Princess Alex in her room. Good luck tomorrow and try to get some sleep tonight!

ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful! I love that it isn't such a "baby-ish" room...nicely done!
ReplyDeleteI love it, it is so unique and precious....what a wonderful welcome for your sweet girl to come home to! Wishing you a safe and easy delivery and a healthy baby! Very excited for your whole family :-)
ReplyDeleteShazam! That is an awesomely cool nursery. But the amazing thing about this is it translates so well to any age. The colors and layers would look great in an adult room as well.
ReplyDeleteGood luck and I hope all goes easy-pezzy on the delivery for all involved!
Can't wait to "meet" her =0)
