Good morning! I have been so bad about blogging lately. Life has been very , very busy. That's not necessarily a bad thing. Just busy.
I promised my self, as we start a new project today, that I will blog about it.
A while back we had an ultrasound to reveal that we are having a girl!
After two boys I am super excited to do all sorts of little girlie
things. On my list of favorite things to do for her is decorating her
room. I moved the two boys in together in the largest of rooms and now
today we are going to start working .
I knew right away that I needed some storage in this space. As of now, this room doesn't have a closet. For a newborn, that's not that big of a deal. Later I have a plan to create a closet (from another room.) More on that later.
The entire design started with curtains I found on Ebay. I knew I didn't want pink to be a main focus in her room. So, I went with blue and orange. I think it is going to match her fun and spunky attitude (that I imagine she will have.)
(curtains on the left) After I chose my curtains I found some coordinating fabrics to use on other parts of the room.
After having my fabrics I chose a paint color.
As much as it goes against designing a little girls room, I decided (with some help from my FB friends) on the blue (top paint chip , middle color) Don't worry, I have some girlie touches in mind to help brighten it up!
Then I chose the furniture pieces I wanted in the room. I didn't purchase any new pieces. But, instead decided I would use pieces that I already have.
(bed wont be in this space-we just haven't taken it down yet)
See this little pitiful dresser? This is the big project we are going to tackle today. When I say we, I mean mostly my husband. He's better at constructing things . I'm more of an idea person.
This, obviously , is not enough storage . So, I have a little plan to make this a grand piece in the room...stay tuned to find out what I'm doing.
I'm also going to turn this coffee table into something special .
This hutch is going to be her makeshift closet for now. Hubby is going to install a shelf and a dowel rod and I'm going to hang some fabric behind the door to conceal it all. I have always loved this piece. I'm glad that it will be of good use for a our brand new addition.
Well, I don't imagine I will get much done today sitting here and talking to you guys. I better get to work! I'll keep you updated on the progress, hope you come back!
OH CONGRATULATIONS on having a precious lil girl. I'm super pumped to see what you do with the room & especially that coffee table. LOVE the colors you picked out, as well as the fabric....an all round fist pump for you! :)
