heat wave induced DIY backyard project and WW link party

Yesterday on Facebook I asked if this area could be saved.

I say, " ABSOLUTELY!"

This is how our side yard looked when we moved in. Most of what you see just needs to be cleaned, manicured, and refreshed.

Now, I realized we still have a TON inside to do. But, we have priorities here. LOL! It's starting to get up into the 100's here in Kentucky and we need a pool!!

So, we started by emptying our "frog pond."

...if only you have smell-o-vision to know exactly how bad this really was. ick.

But, that's okay. We could still visualize relaxing poolside, kids splashing about, and lots of pool parties ahead. So, we kept going!

This liner was ripped. So, we had to clean, pull the old liner out, clean again , and put the new liner in. Then to find out the motor to the pump was bad, purchase a new one (the wrong one,) there was no electric running out to the pump....again, the visions of good times kept us going.

Liner was finally in.....then hubby decided he was going to slip, fall, and puncture our brand new liner......sigh. It didn't go all the way through, he patched it anyway. Just in case.

Can't have a DIY without a small disaster. Right?

I think it's coming along. Don't you? Did you tackle any big projects this week?

Welcome to WhateverWednesday link party where you link up what YOU'VE been doing!

  1. We had to replace our pool liner last year. It was awful, but filling it back up with water was a blast! We used the lope as a slide :)

  4. I love the design of the pool and woah it is so deep! So nice to swim in there. My dream house has a swimming pool because when you feel boring, just only swim in that relaxing water. :)

  5. When you do a DIY you really do it BIG! Way to tackle and win! I can't wait to see how it turns out. I hope with a little bit o' yella! You know how I love that side door color against the shingles.

  6. What an ordeal, Amy! It'll be worth it in the end to have that wonderful pool though. It's hot and nasty in NC now and I'm wishing we had more than a little wading pool. :)

    Take care,
