decoupage eggs

Every year the Easter bunny comes and goes leaving behind a trail of little plastic eggs. After the candy gone  do you just throw them away?

Start off by using a 3/32 size drill bit (in other words, small!) and drill a hole in the top of the egg. Be sure to drill from the inside out ! We don't want anyone slipping and drilling their fingers!

thread a piece of twine (aprox. 6 inch long) through the hole and tie a knot. the knot should be inside the egg.  On the outside of the egg make a loop and tie again.

Assemble the egg back together and set aside.

 I like a rustic , rough , look. So fold the sheets of music into strips to create a crease to rip along. Rip the sheets into long strips. Then rip the strips into little squares. I found that the small squares stay on the egg during dry time.

Set these pieces aside.

Grab your egg, hold by the loop and spread Mod Podge all over the entire surface of the egg. Start applying the squares in a random fashion. When completely covered in paper . Apply mod Podge again, all over.

Some pieces may not adhere right away. Just be patient. As it starts to dry and get tacky rub back over the surface and they will start to lay down again. If desired apply a second /third coat after drying. Mod Podge recommends allowing 15-20 minutes between each coat.

Another idea is to apply an aging glaze over the surface of the egg, wipe away excess and you will have a more primitive look.
