Yesterday I posted about trying to find a beautiful unique vintage piece of furniture with no luck; I eventually found this on craigslist.
It's not vintage but it is different from most changing tables. I realized it wasn't perfect but I had a couple ideas of how to make it great.
So, I call the lady and arrange a time to meet and buy
After being directed to the wrong place THREE times I finally arrive and meet the lady
She shows me the piece and I start to open drawers....
The top drawer was not secure
she says," Oh you can just push that together and it looks fine."
okay
I open another drawer
She says," oh the bottom drawer doesn't work. My son broke it so my husband just screwed the drawer front on. You can't even tell it's not a drawer. You can just make a drawer and it would be perfect"
okay?!
She then says," This changing pad cover comes off so that you can wash it, my son pooped on it all the time so I know ."
WHAT?!
This woman is crazy!
I respond with a quickly made up story so I could stall and quickly flee," well unfortunately I was looking for something with a little more storage. I don't think this is what I need right now , if I see anyone looking for something like this I'll let them know!" meanwhile I'm quickly walking back to the van....
oh my. I have met some silly people on craigslist. You just never know who you're going to meet. I didn't even mention the 25 dogs that meet me at the side of my van upon opening up the door . Or the 5 naked kids running around the front yard.
long story short. I have less than 3 days to find a piece of furniture. The baby shower is SATURDAY I can't show up with nothing! I really didn't want to gift her with purchased things, I want to make something special.

Still time to enter my GIVEAWAY Be sure to check out THIS giveaway too over at APARTMENT homesteader (she is such a doll! Great blog too!)

I don't know if this will help, but we found a reproduction dry sink and used it as a change table. I loved it as it had sides so the little one can't roll off and was little on the long side so I could store wipes at the babies feet. I happened to find a great little padded mattress that was waterproof too. It had two doors and opened up to shelves...lots of storage. My kids have all grown now, but I kept the dry sink and well painted it up and now sits as a piece of furniture in our house. Good Luck in your search!
