After obsessing reading Feathers latest post I was inspired to make my front door welcoming!
I painted my front door black last summer and haven't touched since.
But after seeing THIS door
I started jumping up and down flailing my arms stamped my feet and screamed ,"mommy!! I want that door!!."
Dramatic much?
Apparently 'patience' is optional at birth and my parents opted not to have it installed.....
So, I ran for paint and paint brush!
paint. check.
paintbrush. check.
I ,with a level, drew some guide lines above and below where I wanted my house number.
Using a typed out version on my computer I glanced back and forth while sketching "no. 276" on my door.
Then I painted directly over my sketch.
(Make sure you keep a wet rag handy for mistakes!)
5 Minutes and not a dime spent for a ,now, personalized door!
Now I need to buy a new door knob and deadbolt and a kick plate and she'll be a beautie!
P.s. If your parents opted to install the 'patience' option. Go here {{WonderfullyWordy}} and custom order some vinyl house numbers or phrases. You will have cleaner lines and it could easily be removed (but it's not free!)
This first in the series

I like the door.. I wish I wasn't RENTING mine, I'd totally paint numbers on it!
ReplyDeleteI don't have a project to enter, but I just wanted to say that your door looks wonderful!

I love this and have wanted to do it on my door for awhile now. Unfortunately, my front door has a big expanse of oval glass smack in the middle so I can't do it. I am, however, hopeful that when we downsize, I'll have the style of door where I could do it.
ReplyDeleteAlso, thanks for the invite to link up my magnet post. I will do that when I get home from the day job later! : )
