shreeak!

I'm brave (or stupid!)  Here is my new project....

yeah, Shreeak! See what I mean? I was perusing around on Craigslist {my love} and found a couch for $20. I mostly look at the REALLY cheap furniture just to have a laugh . Am I right? There is some hid-e-ous stuff on Craislist. Where do they find these things? honestly?

 I digress.

After clicking I saw this couch . Let me tell you , this picture is taken after a full day of bleaching and cutting away the shredding fabric. I removed the cushions and sent them off for dry cleaning.

All you slipcover-ers (slipcover-ers? ha!) out there understand why I bought it! Look at the beautiful shape! It's perfect. Oh, and an added bonus! The cushions are down filled. I imagine it to be sooo squishy and comfy when it's done.  It's so hideous I'm entering it into Pink and Polka dot's ugliest sofa contest. wow, We're all going to have to join an "hideous sofa support group" It's painful to look at some of them!

One of these babies are around $10.00 at Lowe's . That, alone, justifies my purchase ( that's what I used to convince hub's anyway. He thinks I'm crazy) Can't you just imagine This with a crispy crunchy white slip cover and these legs slathered in an aged white wash finish?? You wont have to imagine for long! I will be getting this done in the next week (hopefully)  Come back and check it out.

On another note. Keep hanging in there with my coffee table re-do. Let me remind you, I have a 4 month old baby. For some reason he just doesn't understand that mommy has a million projects going on. giggle. Love my babies . smile.

Here are some sneak peaks of the table so far!

I also took a nail and made some worm holes in random places. I then put two coats of satin MinWax stain/poly mixture. I then sanded it down for a more aged feel.

I like it just black. But, it's going to look even better with a beautiful fresh coat of {{white}} More to come later!

  3. Your sofa is bad but mine is just plain ugly! LOL I live in Indiana and I'd love to know where you are in Kentucky. No, I won't show up on your door step and ask if I can live with you.:) I guess there are people that would do that. Good luck to both of us! Oh - I like to dumpster dive too.

  7. Love the shape on this sofa. Nice legs too! Can't wait to see how it turns out.
Popped over from Just Beachy - noticed your comment - I agree that in the beginning you feel like you are being overlooked and no-one wants to read your blog but hang in there - keep commenting and keep posting. If you look back on even the most inspirational blogs that get dozens of comments on each post now they had hardly any or even none in the beginning. Keep mingling and enjoy the blog party!
